Tribute to all teachers.
When I first stepped into school, two things frightened me instantly - the taunting eyes of my fellow classmates and the teachers towering over me. That was when I was in standard one. I was scared to death by my first form teacher because of the way she spoke to us. The lack of tenderness in her speech made me begin to dislike her. Slowly I grew more and more afraid of
her and she became more and more annoyed of me. Don't ask me how I knew she was annoyed, I just did.
Thankfully I only had to put up with her for a year and my daily encounters with her was history. Second year of entering primary school. I was still extremely timid and I would always have that need to be cared for, to attract the attention of others. All I had to do was cry, in order to get my way.
Years went by, and I still never thought of teaching as a very noble job. I always thought that teachers wanted to teach because they weren't capable of doing anything else. Shallow, I know. Until this year,
when I went into the administrative office the other day, I saw the admins of my school joking around. They weren't monsters like what most of us would think. They were human, looking for company and laughter like all of us. They just act like teachers in the classrooms and when they're outside and inside the office, they get to be themselves - normal human beings - secretly, of course.
This year I realized two things so far. Our pride as teenagers have led most of us to think that teachers are lousy and useless. I also realized that are the most important people in the world, besides parents. Think about it, where do doctors, lawyers, engineers etc come from? Teachers, of course!
Open your eyes to see the teachers around us and start appreciating them.
And with this I say, HAPPY BELATED TEACHERS DAY.
